We are grateful for the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, which recently made a Grant to the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies: Bridging Regional Divides & Making ‘the Global Turn’: Sustaining Area & International Studies at the University of Washington. The U.W. received the grant for its area studies programs, enabling eight Title VI National Resource Centers in the Jackson School of International Studies to build their programs for students, educators, and the community. As part of the grant, “Re-imagining Area/International Studies in the 21st Century: The Arctic as an Emerging Global Region” is designed to enable the Canadian Studies Center and other partnering units to build an Arctic academic program at the University of Washington. More information about the Mellon Foundation and its programs may be found at www.mellon.org.
